Filled with 18th and 19th-century antiques and Persian rugs, Château de Rhodes offers a distinctive setting designed to create lasting memories for everyone who stays here.

The château features two very large reception rooms, a formal dining room, library, billiard room, games rooms, a terrace dining room for more than 30 guests, a cinema room, the original château kitchen, and a fully equipped professional kitchen.

The professional kitchen includes an American-style fridge freezer with ice maker, walk-in refrigerator, under-counter refrigerators, drinks chiller, self-service refrigerator, three ovens, two dishwashers, two sets of burners, a griddle, coffee makers and more.

Outside, there are dining tables and seating for more than 30 guests, along with sun beds and shaded areas around the pool and terrace.

The grounds are encircled by a tranquil walking path and are bordered by both a river and a stream. Ancient trees form part of the well-tended landscape, while the terrace overlooks the softly flowing Arize River as it meanders through the château grounds. From the swimming pool, guests can enjoy dramatic views towards the Pyrenees.

Sports and leisure facilities include a hard tennis court, antique snooker and pool table, games room and exercise room. A challenging eighteen-hole golf course is also located just a short drive away.

The History of Château de Rhodes

The history of the land beneath Château de Rhodes stretches back into the Middle Ages and is closely connected with several notable historical figures.

• Medieval Roots: The estate was once the Domaine of Isabelle de Foix in 1402.
• Aristocratic Residence: The property later became associated with Jean-Louis de Narbonne and remained connected with aristocratic ownership into the 18th century.
• Rebirth in Stone: The château seen today largely dates from 1761 and was substantially extended in 1861. For generations, it served as the residence of a prominent family in Ariège.

This remarkable building has witnessed centuries of regional history while overlooking the wild and unspoiled landscape of the Ariège department.

David and Hiroko Sindell: A Return to Their Passion

The current chapter of Château de Rhodes is being written by David and Hiroko Sindell. Their connection with the property goes back many years, having previously owned the château before 2006 and returning to take the helm again in 2018.

Having fallen in love with both the château and the beauty of the Ariège region, they remain committed to preserving its historical character while providing the comfort and facilities expected of a modern private rental property.
